Kate Salt award

The Kate Salt award is a competition held every year for a different patchwork and quilting theme. Previously the silver thimble competition it was renamed in memory of Kate Salt, Nottingham Patchwork group treasurer for over 30 years until her death in 2021.

The theme for 2024 is a pot holder/oven mitt. The outside layer to be made using recycled fabric

The prize is awarded at the A.G.M. in October to the entrant who has the most votes from all the members present.

Competition rules

The competition allows all types of patchwork and quilting to compete on an equal basis. Entries must be anonymous. The rules are:

  1. The entrant must be a member of Nottingham Patchwork Group.

  2. The entry should have been finished since 1st January in the year of the competition.

  3. Only one entry per person.

  4. All members present on the date of the competition have one vote, this includes the entrants.

  5. The prize is a voucher presented to the entry with the most votes.
